Sample Script
If you know what you’re calling about, have your official’s number and just need a script, here’s one you can adapt.
Just be sure to keep it short and sweet (or not sweet.)
“Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [Your City, Your State]. I’m calling to urge [Your Representative] to vote [Yes, No] on [Bill Name or Issue]. Please make sure the [Official’s Title] knows that [her, his, their] constituents strongly [oppose, support] this bill at every stage. Thank you.”
You could even give a brief reason [it threatens fundamental rights, harms marginalized communities, etc.]
If you leave a voicemail, be sure to leave your full address so that your call will be properly logged.
